❄❄❄

First of all obviously, Merry Christmas from us! Melody is currently rather far away from me - In London awaiting her flight to Hong Kong (Did I mention how jealous I was because... I am) whilst I am shivering in the cold in Edinburgh! How exciting. Christmas eve was spent with mother and father in a beautiful, absolutely breathtaking restaurant in the Prestonfield Estate called Rhubarb - I'd suggest if you ever have a special/monumental occasion to commemorate, any of the restaurants at Prestonfield or by the group that runs these restaurants are a must see must try. I'm going to try and get myself into The Witchery - A restaurant by the same group of people that run the Prestonfield. The service is superb, food is beyond delicious and the experience you get whilst being there is just mind blowing. Oh I love adjectives.

I am... a little tipsy I must admit. I have had a significant amount of wine, digestifs and.. whiskey. When in Rome, do as the Romans do, right? Aka when in Scotland drink lots of scotch/whiskey. Its christmas anyway!

Edinburgh is a beautiful place for a holiday or a short getaway. Well, at this time, the weather is horrendous. I probably need to be cuddled every second because the winds are extremely brutal and I need to stay grounded or I'd be swept away into the unknown. Today was not much of a day of exploration - it started raining once we got to lunch. However, after some research, if one gets to Edinburgh when the weather is better, there is much to see and do! Visiting the Edinburgh castle, and the many museums the city has to offer, or shopping around for all things Scottish aka EVERYTHING TARTAN (a new obsession), Scottish whiskey, cheese or even just Scottish food - their salmon is fantastically fresh. I would not recommend meat haggis, they are disgusting, I would not want to be eating random bits and odds and ends of meat from weird meats piled into one fat pancake. Veggie haggis would be alright.

More updates to come in the next few days, I will be in Edinburgh until the 27th, and then venturing into the Isle of Skye, and returning to the city centre on the 29th, and heading back to Durham for the new year on the 30th!

How interesting is it that Mel and I will be posting from completely different parts of the world? I love it! I must say, I miss Asia a lot. Might be a bit homesick for a big christmas dinner with my family back in Singapore.

In other news, shoutout to the special two in our lives, you know who you are! Here's a little something for you since we can't be next to you at the moment:

Have an amazing christmas everybody!

Lots of love and snow,

Alyssa
